An evaluation of the Conserving Canada’s Forests (CF) Program was commissioned by the Ivey
Foundation to evaluate the CF Program after five years of granting. The review covers the years 2003 to 2007, inclusive. The objective of the review/evaluation was to identify strengths and weaknesses in the CF Program with a view to modifying the grant allocation strategy in order to maximize the achievement of the Foundation’s conservation goals.
This webpage contains selected materials that the Foundation commissioned or prepared as part of this review that we believe would be useful to our grantees, other grantmakers or to members of the public interested in forest conservation in Canada.
Summary Report. This summary report provides a concise summary of the findings and recommendations stemming from our Five Year review as prepared by David LaRoche, an independent outside evaluator. The report can be read or downloaded in PDF format.
Progress in selected forest conservation indicators. The Foundation tracks progress in increasing the amount of protected forest in Canada as well as changes in key policies that are linked to our internal CF program indicators. We have provided summary information about these changes in both map and written format as described below.
- Protected Areas. The map of Canada below allows you to select an individual province or territory and see the increases in both interim and permanent protected areas that occurred in the 2003 to 2008 period. There is also a summary table of the changes as well as pdf versions of the maps. For more information on this dataset or to obtain spatial data please contact: info@globalforestwatch.ca
