The Ivey Foundation
is a private charitable foundation located in Toronto, Canada. It
was incorporated without share capital as The Richard Ivey Foundation
on December 31, 1947 under the laws of the Province of Ontario by
the late Richard G. Ivey, LL.D., Q.C. and his son, Richard M. Ivey,
C.C., LL.D., Q.C. Since 1947 the Foundation has made grants totalling
$67.8 million.
The Ivey Foundation has grown, evolved and kept pace with an increasingly
demanding and sophisticated grant-seeking community. With roots
in London, Ontario, it helped establish that city as a centre of
health-care excellence and home to a leading research-intensive
university. Today, the Conserving Canada's Forests Program provides
critical support for environmental sustainability across the country.
Throughout its long and rich history, the Foundation has maintained
a focus on the pursuit and support of excellence, but has also embraced
change as a necessary element in its evolution.
As a family, we have been privileged to work together over three
generations, sharing ideas, insights and passions about the possibilities
of philanthropy. Going forward, the Ivey Foundation will continue
in its mission to improve the well-being of Canadians by focusing
its energy and resources on selected issues of significance.

The directors, committee members and staff
of the Ivey Foundation are active in their communities, serving
as board members or otherwise involved in a wide spectrum of for-profit,
non-profit and charitable organizations. The Foundation recognizes
the value of involving individuals in its work who have a diversity
of experience, and are knowledgeable about the communities in
which it works. This means that, from time to time, conflicts
of interest or the appearance of such conflicts inevitably arise.
Where there is a material conflict of interest,
e.g. a director, committee member or staff member of the Foundation
is acting as a paid advisor, consultant or staff member of an
applicant, the individual will declare the conflict, not receive
any materials pertaining to the matter and absent themselves from
discussions and decisions regarding the matter in question. Where
a director, committee member or staff is acting as an unpaid advisor,
board director or in some other voluntary capacity with an applicant,
the individual will declare the conflict and avoid participating
in decisions or votes regarding the application, but need not
be absent from the discussion, according to the individual’s preference.
